P-Shot injection for erectile dysfunction treatment in Turkey
P-Shot injections for erectile dysfunction treatment in Turkey
What is P-Shot treatment?
Erectile dysfunction is a disorder that can be observed in all age groups, especially after the age of fifty, and it significantly affects men’s quality of life and psychological state.
Erectile dysfunction may be caused by organic, neurological, or psychological reasons. While psychological disorders are the main cause in younger age groups, diabetes, heart disease, and neurological disorders are more likely to cause erectile dysfunction at an older age.
Medication treatment is applied as the first step in treating erectile dysfunction. It is an alternative with short-term side effects, but it may complicate the condition, especially in younger patients. Currently, it is the most preferred method of treatment.
In patients who do not respond to medication, the second step is penile injection therapy (P-Shot injection). These injections are more effective but not considered fully equivalent alternatives. Long-term use may cause problems, and patients often feel pain during the injection.
Penile prosthesis treatment (the “happiness rod”) has been the last option for patients who did not respond to either method. However, a new treatment alternative with very effective results in recent years is P-SHOT PRP therapy.
P-SHOT PRP is a scientifically and ethically approved treatment with both short and long-term results. It involves injecting cells derived from the patient’s own blood into the penis to stimulate cell growth and the formation of new blood vessels.
How P-SHOT PRP is applied
P-SHOT PRP injections are applied once a week for 3 sessions.
The mechanism of action works by forming new blood vessels, stimulating new cell formation, and activating growth factors.
As a result:
- 85% of patients improve in erectile function.
- Sexual performance increases.
- Noticeable and measurable increases in penile thickness and length are observed.
It is the most preferred treatment method, with no side effects, and has FDA approval.
Benefits of P-Shot injections (PRP injections in the penis):
- Treatment of premature ejaculation by delaying it.
- Increase in penis length and girth.
- Treatment of Peyronie’s disease (penile curvature).
- Relief of pain felt during erection.
- Improved blood flow to the penis, leading to stronger erections.
- Psychological satisfaction for both partners.
Is P-Shot a drug?
PRP is not a drug. It contains no substance other than the patient’s own blood. Unlike medications, its effect is limited to the injected area.
- It has no side effects on the kidneys, liver, or stomach.
- It does not contain cortisone.
- P-SHOT contains growth factors that help the body’s healing response by stimulating tissue repair, new blood vessel formation, infection prevention, and protein production.
Are there stem cells in PRP (P-Shot)?
Contrary to popular belief, P-Shot contains very few stem cells. Stem cells exist in small numbers in muscles, bone marrow, fatty tissue, and synovial membranes. For therapeutic use, bone marrow tissue must be specially concentrated, or the cells must be cultured in a lab before being reapplied. PRP kits and bone marrow concentration kits are different.
Can P-Shot be applied to others?
No. Although blood products can sometimes be given to other people, P-Shot can only be applied to the same person, eliminating risks of infections like hepatitis or HIV. PRP should be used within minutes of preparation, as its effect decreases significantly after 10 minutes.
How often can P-Shot be applied?
There is no fixed protocol. In some cases, a single application may be enough, while in others it can be repeated every 2–3 weeks depending on the patient’s response.
It must be applied under sterile conditions.
- The most common method is direct injection into the target tissue with a fine needle.
- PRP can also be prepared as a gel and placed in the target area during surgery.
- Finally, it can be absorbed into implants during surgery to enhance healing.
Conditions where P-Shot is effective:
- Chronic tendon disorders (e.g., tennis elbow, Achilles tendon injuries, patellar tendonitis, plantar fasciitis).
- Knee ligament injuries (e.g., medial collateral ligament in athletes).
- Muscle injuries (faster recovery after strains or tears).
- Osteoarthritis (early knee arthritis – reduces pain and improves function for up to 6 months).
- Cartilage repair support (improves tissue quality when used with cartilage repair techniques).
- As an adjunct during surgery (reducing bleeding, supporting healing).
What should I do after P-Shot treatment?
- Apply ice and use paracetamol-based painkillers if needed.
- Avoid NSAIDs (e.g., Voltaren, Naproxen, Mefenamic acid) as they reduce PRP effectiveness.
- Rest is essential; avoid strenuous exercise or resistance training.
- Light stretching is acceptable.
- Return to sports or training is usually 3–6 weeks later.
- Ask your doctor which medications are safe during recovery.
Are there complications or side effects?
- Mild swelling or pain at the injection site may occur but usually subsides in a few days.
- Easily controlled with simple painkillers and ice.
- No internal side effects since it’s made from the patient’s own blood.
- No allergic reactions.
Patients’ experiences with P-Shot:
- Improved erections: Many reported stronger erections.
- Increased libido: Some noted higher sexual desire and energy.
- Mild pain: The injection caused only minor discomfort.
- Mixed results: A few men didn’t notice improvement, highlighting the need for realistic expectations.
- Medical reassurance: Consulting doctors and understanding the procedure gave many patients confidence and peace of mind.
