It can develop for various reasons such as trauma, congenital growth disorders, and in 80% of scoliosis cases, the cause remains unknown. Typically, at the beginning of the growth period, parents notice signs such as shoulder asymmetry in the child, a bulge on part of the back, or uneven hip levels. Scoliosis is defined as a sideways curvature of the spine of at least 10 degrees. In a normal and healthy spine, the vertebrae extend straight from top to bottom in the neck, back, and waist regions when viewed from behind. In scoliosis, however, the vertebrae deviate to the right or left and also rotate around their axis. For this reason, it is described as a three-dimensional deformity.
